"He underestimated the long-term effects of his annual late arrivals to spring training, to his no-shows at the yearly Cubs Convention, to the 2003 corked-bat incident, to the 2004 hissy fits when Baker had no choice but to drop him in the batting order, to the ditch-and-lie incident of Oct. 3."
--Gene Wojciechowski talking about Sammy Sosa
Sammy could have been considered the best and most popular Cub ever. But to lie to your fans and the team (when there was video evidence to the contrary) is unacceptable. Chicago would have let Sammy fade into glory even if his talent went away and his strikeouts went up even more. I very much doubt the fans in Baltimore will be so kind.
