When Everyone is Special, No One is Special
Discovercard, the originator of the cash back credit card has been struggling as of late. As noted previously on this blog, its cash back back program has been surpassed by much more lucrative cards by Chase and Citi.
That I can handle, but what I just discovered is that nearly every Discovercard is now "platinum". Check out the website, four out of six credit cards are now platinum. The only two that aren't include a student card. So really four out of five cards are platinum and the sixth is a "miles" card. Kind of defeats the purpose of being "platinum", doesn't it?
